Woke up this morning and went to go to Starbucks before the kids woke up. Walked out the door to find that my car had been stolen. Again! I can’t make this up. Thank goodness that my in-laws were leaving town today, so they are able to help get the kids to and from work, and my husband to his doctor’s appointment. My house keys are in the car, so know we will have to change all the locks in the house. My car was stolen in April of 2021. It didn’t take long to be found, but it was destroyed and took months to fix. Now, here we are again. Different insurance company, so hopefully I won’t have to fight over a rental car.

We are guessing that insurance will probably just total it. Which might be a blessing in disguise. We’ve been looking at, in the next year or so, getting a new car anyway. Kia’s are the #1 stolen vehicle, at least in my area.

Unfortunately, my husband was laid off from his job a little over a month ago. He has surgery coming up next month, so we have been using his severance to get by until he is through recovery in January. I have been a stay at home mom and homemaker for almost 14 years. We have no current income. Buying a new car right now wasn’t a priority. Now it has to be. But how does one buy a car with no income?

So, I have spent the morning looking for work. I still have to be a homemaker and deal with all the responsibilities that come with that. That means I can’t have a traditional job. Honestly, it is one of the main reasons I haven’t worked in so long. Because I can only work from home, and only part-time, or at least only very specific hours. Apparently, work-from-home jobs that don’t require on-the-phone time don’t really exist. Even if everyone keeps saying they are easy to find.

Really, today is just one headache after another. We will survive this. We always do. But we could really use a break. We have had a lot of drama in the last few months. In life, really. But, as my husband always says, we will make it through the other side. We can make this work for us somehow. We have survived our worst days, and this doesn’t even come close to that, so we can survive this too!
