The family and I spent the day taking down our Halloween decorations and cleaning up the leaves from the yard. While the rest of the family worked on decorations, I used the leaf blower to move most of the leaves to a centralized location for easier pick up. Once the decorations were down, the kids got the compost bin and started picking up the leaves. As usual, they got into it. With a rake and snow shovel they filled up the bin. Then my youngest got a piece of cardboard and stepped on it to push the leaves down so they could add more.
I’m a summer girl. I prefer the heat. But I love seeing the colors of the leaves change. I love seeing my kids play with them after they fall. Kids, especially mine, tend to complain about chores. They still complain when we tell them it is yard cleaning day. But they always end up having a blast playing in the leaves.
Today, I asked my youngest to help me get a picture I could share with this post. She decided to get extra creative and set up a bunch of awesome shots that were “shareworthy”. She even got her sister involved in a couple. It was fun to interact with them on something that wasn’t electronic or school-based.
Fall gives us my two favorite holidays, Halloween and Thanksgiving. It also gives us beautiful scenery. Those are my favorite parts of fall. I know Thanksgiving’s origin is not one of happiness. I don’t celebrate it for the “tradition”, I celebrate it for family time. For the reminder that we only have so much time on this earth and we should be thankful for what we have and for those we love.
I would love you to share what your favorite part(s) of fall is. Please share with me. Do you have a favorite tradition for Halloween or Thanksgiving?
