What is an epilogue? In a book it is the conclusion, or wrap up of the book. It brings everything together. Is the epilogue at the end of a book enough for you? Does it give you what you’re hoping for? With the amount of reading I do, I see a few different types of epilogues. Some just continue the book with a closing chapter. Some give more of a fast-forward by a few months or years. And some give you a look into the future. There are other ones out there, but those are the most common ones I come across.

I personally love the ones that give the reader a peak into the future. Especially if there will not be any spin off books or series. I don’t want major spoilers for the spinoffs. However, if it won’t ruin anything, I want to know about the kids, school, jobs, lives, all the things.

I am currently reading Encore by Bea Paige. It came out a few days ago, and I have put off reading it. Not because I thought it would be bad, but because I knew that these characters were ones that spoke to my heart and made a difference in my life. I knew that this book would rip me open and lay me bare. I just started it. I’ve already laughed, and shed a small tear or two. Pen and her boys are truly amazing. I didn’t know this book was coming, and I was not prepared, but I am so excited to read this encore.

I’ll leave you with a couple of quotes from the series that really spoke to me.

“You should never close the door on a gift just because you don’t think you fit the mould. Don’t ever define yourself by what you believe people see. Open yourself up to possibilities because you are talented enough to do anything.”
— Bea Paige (Freestyle (Academy of Stardom, #1))

“What you saw tonight was the men who love you doing everything in their power to protect you. Nothing more. Nothing less.”
— Bea Paige (Breakers (Academy of Stardom, #3))

“We will be your light when the world gets too dark,” he continues. “We will be the lyrics in every song and the step in every dance. We’ll remind you every fucking day who you are.”
— Bea Paige (Finale (Academy of Stardom, #4))

What are you reading now?

What book has you by the heartstrings right now? Or even recently? And what is your favorite epilogue? What impact do epilogues have on your reading experience?
