In my family, you either make it past 80, and often to 100, or you die young. There isn’t much in between in my family.
I have said many times that I have no desire to live to be 100, or even 90. If I believed that I could be a healthy, active, happy old person, then I wouldn’t mind growing old. But since the likelihood of that, based on my current (and past) health, is low, I’d rather not be a burden to my kids.
As a person who has taken care of, or supported that person, old and sickly family members, I am not inclined to put my children through that. It is stressful. It is also often hurtful.
So no, I do not want to live a very long life. I want to live as long as I can care for myself.
What about you? Do you want to live a very long life?
