Some days I feel like I am the go-to person for everyone in my life. Oftentimes the questions make sense for who I am, but sometimes they come out of left field.

I don’t mind being that person. I am not judgmental about anything. That means they can ask about parenting, life, spouses, sex, really anything. I will answer to the best of my abilities. I will also use my research skills to help out if I don’t know the answers.

Tonight a friend reached out to discuss some problems they are having in their life. They were talking about some pretty personal things, and felt awkward asking, but knew that I would listen and help without judging him or making him feel any more uncomfortable. Once we finished up that conversation, he asked for some advice on updating his wardrobe.

I have answered many questions about many different topics. Just in the last six months, I have covered autism, a school that would be good for an autistic student in another state, gender identities, sex, sexual preferences, clothes, transgender, and more I can’t think of at the moment. I am a jill of many trades and a master at none, but I am ok with that. If I know a little about a lot, then I know where to look for more information, and I know when the info I’m finding is right.

I’m glad that people feel comfortable asking my questions they wouldn’t ask anyone else. It makes me feel useful and helpful.

Do you have a go-to person? Are you the go-to?
