Before my brother tragically took his life, he designed a tattoo in memory of our beloved grandpa. It featured a Celtic cross adorned with our grandpa’s initials and his birth and death dates.
I was deeply moved by the symbolism of the tattoo and knew I wanted something similar, albeit slightly smaller, to honor our grandpa’s memory.
However, after my brother and mom passed away, my perspective on this tattoo shifted. I found myself wanting to incorporate a fairy sitting on the cross in memory of my mom. Additionally, I decided to omit our grandpa’s information from the design.
Unfortunately, I misplaced the transfer paper with the original tattoo design. All I have now is a picture of it on my brother’s back.

Despite the support and offers of help from loved ones, including my oldest child and a close friend, I have yet to find someone who can bring my vision to life. Financial constraints also pose a challenge, making it difficult to pursue my dream tattoo at this time. I know that this design will take hours to bring to life. And if I want it done right, I’m willing to pay the good money for a reputable artist.
Nevertheless, it remains a cherished goal. I envision placing it on my back, between my shoulder blades, echoing the placement of my brother’s tattoo. Perhaps someday, when the time is right.
While this tattoo holds special significance for me, I also have numerous other tattoo ideas swirling in my mind. If only I were financially able, I would be adorned with ink from head to toe.
What about you? Are you a fan of tattoos, and do you have a dream tattoo in mind?
