As I embarked on a small hike with my youngest child to prepare for an upcoming meditation challenge, I was reminded once again of the profound effect that nature has on my sense of calm and centeredness.
My daughter suggested this hike to get some pictures and video for the 30-day meditation challenge I am starting on the 15th. I think she also suggested it because it had been a rough day for me emotionally, and she knew, as she often does, what I needed to come back to center.

On our hike, I couldn’t help but marvel at the beauty of the natural world surrounding us. The gentle rustle of leaves, the beginnings of spring, the calming rush of the river, and the distant call of birds all served as a gentle reminder of the wonders of the world around us.

I found myself fully immersed in the present moment. Each step brought me closer to a state of mindfulness as I tuned in to the sights, sounds, and sensations of nature all around me. The worries and distractions of daily life faded into the background as I focused on the simple joy of being outdoors with my child.
The rhythm of our footsteps, the fresh air filling my lungs, and the beauty of the natural landscape all served to quiet my mind and soothe my soul. In nature’s embrace, I found refuge from the stresses and pressures of everyday life. The time spent in nature grounded me in the present moment and provided me with a sense of inner peace that would serve as a strong foundation for my mindfulness practice.
Taking a small hike with my youngest served as a powerful reminder of the restorative power of nature and its ability to calm and center the mind. As I move forward, I carry with me the lessons learned from our time in the great outdoors—a reminder to always seek solace in the beauty of the natural world.
