Summer is the perfect time to focus on self-care and create habits that nourish your mind, body, and soul. Here are ten self-care goals to help you make the most of this sunny season.

  1. Practice Mindfulness and Meditation
    • Take a few minutes each day to practice mindfulness and meditation. Focus on your breath, clear your mind, and find a moment of peace amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life. Even a short meditation session can help reduce stress and increase mental clarity.
  2. Spend Time in Nature
    • Nature has a way of rejuvenating our spirits. Go for a walk in the park, hike in the mountains, or swim in the lake. Spending time outdoors can improve your mood, boost your energy, and provide a sense of calm. My family and I have been enjoying the mountains and playing in the river the last couple of weeks.
  3. Exercise Regularly
    • Regular exercise is essential for physical and mental well-being. Find an activity you enjoy, whether it’s jogging, cycling, yoga, or dancing. The endorphins released during exercise can help you feel happier and more relaxed. This is one I’m struggling with in our new summer routine.
  4. Eat Healthy Foods
    • Nourish your body with nutrient-rich foods that make you feel good. Focus on fresh fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and plenty of water. Eating healthily can increase your energy levels and improve your overall health. This is another struggle for me, but mostly because I forget to eat. I’ve been setting alarms on my phone to help me remember when it is time to eat.
  5. Get Enough Sleep
    • Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep per night to allow your body and mind to rest and recover. Good sleep is crucial for maintaining energy, focus, and emotional balance throughout the day. If y’all figure out how to make this work, will you please let me know?
  6. Spend Time with Loved Ones
    • Connect with friends and family who make you happy. Spending time with loved ones can strengthen relationships, provide emotional support, and create lasting memories. This is my favorite part of summer!
  7. Do Something Creative
    • Engage in creative activities like painting, drawing, writing, or playing music. Creativity can be a great outlet for expressing emotions and exploring new ideas, helping you feel more fulfilled and inspired.
  8. Learn Something New
    • Keep your mind active by learning something new. Take a class, read a book, or watch a documentary. Expanding your knowledge and skills can boost your confidence and open up new opportunities. I am taking a crystal and chakra healing certification course.
  9. Give Back to Your Community
    • Volunteer your time or donate to a cause you care about. Giving back to your community can provide a sense of purpose, improve your mood, and help you connect with others. My give back is the Denver Metro Out of the Darkness Walk. I chair a couple of different areas within this walk.
  10. Unplug from Technology
    • Take a break from your phone, computer, and social media. Unplugging from technology can help reduce stress, improve your sleep, and allow you to be more present in the moment. YES!!! This!!!
