I like to think I’m creative, but am usually proved wrong the moment I start a creative project.
Except when it comes to painting. I absolutely love to paint. It is a bit of an outlet for me, and besides the occasional short story and novel going nowhere, the only creative thing I do.
Painting allows me to shut out the world and my mind to go blank, save for thoughts about what I am painting. It gives me a way to get the beauty I see in nature onto something I can hold on to.
I’m not great at it, but I am pretty decent. Certainly not going to be winning any awards for my art, but that isn’t why I do it. I do it to quiet the depression and to give myself a break from the day to day crazy.
I currently have a bunch of my paintings hanging in my house, and a whole bunch of other ones just sitting around. I really do need to find something to do with them, because I really don’t have a storage space for them. Maybe some day I’ll be able to sell them.

I painted this one to hang on the wall behind our Christmas tree.

Sometimes they turn out pretty aweful
These are just the last few I have done. This last one was mostly practicing with my new sponges. It was going pretty well, until I tried to add clouds.
How are you creative? What is your favorite outlet?
