Every year, Prime Days roll around, and I tell myself the same thing:
“I’m only buying things I actually need.”
Every year, Prime Days roll around, and I find myself staring at deals, wondering if a giant pack of snack containers or a new set of pens somehow counts as a necessity.
The struggle is real.
That said, Prime Days can actually be a great time to save money, if you’re intentional about it.
My Prime Day Rule
I keep a running list throughout the year of things we need, things that would make life easier, and things that have been hanging on by a thread and threatening to quit at any moment.
Instead of impulse buying, I use Prime Days to check that list first.
Do we need it?
Will we use it?
Will it actually make life easier?
If the answer is yes, then I start watching for deals.
The Early Deals Are Already Starting
One thing I’ve learned over the years is that you don’t always have to wait for the official Prime Day event.
Some of the best deals start showing up early, especially on:
- Household essentials – Trash Bags
- Organization products – Desk/Makeup Organizer
- Kitchen gadgets – Air Fryer
- Electronics – Smart Digital Calendar (you try getting 7 people to use the same calendar app)
- Books – Ticky Tabs for Annotations (there are some deals happening with audiobooks, too, if that is more your speed)
- Craft supplies – Clay Beads
- School supplies – Composition Notebooks
- Self-care items – Aromatherapy Candles
Obviously, these are just a very small collection of what is on sale early. I’ve already started collecting some of the better deals and products I genuinely recommend in my storefront, so they’re easier to find without digging through pages of random stuff.

What I’ll Be Shopping For
This year, I’m mostly focusing on practical purchases.
Things like:
- Home organization products
- Craft and art supplies
- Books
- Family essentials
- A few items that make caregiving and daily life a little easier
Nothing flashy.
Just the stuff that helps reduce friction in everyday life.
Because honestly, if something saves me five minutes, one trip across the house, or a little bit of mental energy, that’s worth more to me these days than the latest trendy gadget.
A Friendly Reminder
Not every deal is a good deal.
Not every sale item needs to come home with us.
And sometimes the best Prime Day purchase is no Prime Day purchase at all.
But if you’ve been waiting to replace something, stock up on necessities, or grab something that’s been sitting on your wishlist for months, now is a good time to start watching prices.

Anyways…
I’ll be keeping an eye on the deals and updating my storefront with what I think is genuinely worth considering.
No pressure.
No “must-have” nonsense.
Just practical finds that might make life a little easier.
And honestly? I think we could all use a little easier.
